The machine bed and base are made out of one-piece casting, while the carriage, cross slide, and compound are all equipped with six-way lever control of feed and rapid traverse. The lathe has 240 threads for inch, metric, module, and diametral pitch by direct selection, and additional hardened and ground way for support of apron. Other features include a tailstock with hi-low gear for quill feed, a "tang," and built-in stopper to aid in heavy drilling. The Sharp 3560W lathe's impressive capacity includes a swing over bed of 35", swing over cross slide of 24", swing over gap width of 53" and 24", distance between centers of 60", bed width of 25.5", and a quill travel of 7.87". The main motor has 30 hp, and the net weight of the machine is approximately 16,500 lbs.
